New Old Stock Monroe installation hardware set for selected front suspension strut inserts fitted to classic BMW models.

The set contains the threaded gland nut used to secure the shock-absorber insert inside the front strut housing and the upper piston-rod retaining nut.

The original Monroe installation instructions identify this hardware for use with Monroe shock-absorber references MG998, MR940 and MG971.

This fitting kit should not be ordered solely by vehicle model. Always compare the gland-nut diameter, thread pitch, internal profile and upper retaining nut with the components supplied with the original Monroe shock absorber.

Vehicles equipped with M-Technic, sports suspension or a different strut-housing diameter may require different hardware.

Important quantity information

This listing contains hardware for one front suspension strut.

A vehicle normally has two front struts. Two identical fitting sets may therefore be required when replacing both front shock-absorber inserts.

Installation recommendation

Before installation:

• Confirm the Monroe shock-absorber reference
• Compare the gland nut with the original component
• Verify the external thread diameter and thread pitch
• Check that the gland nut correctly fits the strut housing
• Compare the upper retaining nut with the shock-absorber piston rod
• Clean the internal and external strut-housing threads
• Inspect all components for corrosion or thread damage
• Follow the supplied Monroe installation instructions
• Observe the specified tightening torques
• Never use damaged or incorrectly fitting threaded components
• Check that the strut insert is securely retained without movement
• Perform a wheel-alignment and complete suspension inspection after installation

Coil springs are stored under considerable tension and can cause serious injury. Installation should be carried out by a qualified technician using an approved spring compressor and suitable suspension tools.
